Year in Review: 2023 MileOneCares Highlights

MileOne, through our philanthropic program MileOneCares, is committed to making lives better in the communities where we live and work and 2023 was no exception! By the end of 2023, we plan to donate approximately $2 million dollars in support of our continued efforts to provide access to safe transportation, strengthen our communities, and support our employees.

As we head into the season of giving, read on for some MileOneCares highlights from this past year at Heritage.

CAR SEAT SAFETY & DISTRIBUTION EVENTS

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that child safety seats reduce fatal injury by 71% for infants younger than a year old and by 54% for toddlers in passenger vehicles. This is why we partner with community nonprofits and Maryland Kids in Safety Seats to hold Car Seat Safety and Distribution Events at our area dealerships to provide free car seats and installation education to those in need. This year, we’ve impacted over 1,000 families company-wide, the majority of whom were from Baltimore and Harrisburg. We look forward to continuing these important events in 2024.

AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

Since 2000, MileOne has raised over $4.8 Million to help ACS fight cancer and support local patients with their transportation needs. This year, we’ve continued our support through donating a 2023 Jeep Wrangler to their annual vehicle raffle, our employees donate hours and meals to the Baltimore Hope Lodge, and our Subaru dealerships support fundraising efforts through their Share the Love campaigns.

VEHICLES FOR CHANGE

At MileOne, we firmly believe transportation is transformational and that’s why we’ve donated over 200 vehicles to Vehicles for Change since our partnership began in 2015. Through their Car Award Program, VFC awards vehicles to qualified low-income families in Maryland and Virginia. Most recently, MileOneCares presented 10 cars to 10 Veterans in our third annual Veterans Day Event.
