What's New
For over 40 years, Honda has made the Civic the standard-bearer for the compact sedan segment of the automotive industry. With each new generation, the Civic has strengthened the reach of its cult following among car buyers, who love it because of its simple yet reliable design. For the 2019 model year, the Civic has improved thanks to a light visual refresh on the Sedan and Coupe variants, a new Sport trim level, brand new safety innovations including Honda Sensing® collision-prevention technology, and a redesigned infotainment system. All these moves help make the 2019 Civic the very best version yet.
The Perfect Ride for…
Drivers looking for a reliable vehicle that's built around efficient performance, an affordable price tag, and tons of critical acclaim. The 2019 Civic’s in-line four-cylinder engine may not sound like a lot, but the engine's lightweight construction means that power can be put to good use on the road, and its smart design means it saves the driver in fuel costs. Not only will it save the driver at the pump, but Honda has made the Civic more affordable than ever; the 2019 Sedan LX starts at only $19,450, while the Civic Coupe starts at only $20,650.*
Drive & Handling
Honda offers the 2019 Civic in several different trim levels and configurations. The standard variant can be had in either Coupe, Sedan, or Hatchback form. There's the hotter Civic Si for those looking for more performance and excitement, and the true gearheads will want to go all in with the stunning Civic Type R.
The base model Civic LX and new Civic Sport both come with a 158 horsepower 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated engine, while the premium EX, EX-L, and Touring packages utilize a turbocharged upgrade that boosts performance to an impressive 174 horsepower. In the handling, you’ll feel the advantage of the Civic’s longer wheelbase and wider, more aggressive stance, especially with the standard MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspensions. All packages offer either a 6-speed manual transmission or automatic Continuously Variable Transmission, which is matched to each available engine type to optimize power without sacrificing fuel efficiency.
Civic Hatchback
Perhaps the 2019 Civic Sedan’s ample 15.1 cubic feet of cargo space just isn’t enough for your needs. If so, the 2019 Civic Hatchback may be a better fit. It does everything the regular Civic does, only now with more room for passengers and gear. Cargo space has been increased to 25.7cubic feet, and even as much as 46.2 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. Prices for the Hatchback start at $21,450* and will return an impressive EPA-estimated 40 mpg highway, 31 mpg city.**
Civic Si
The venerable Civic Si returns for 2019 and takes the Civic's performance to another level. Under the hood is a tuned version of the turbocharged engine found in the other trim levels, only now it makes a stout 205 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque. It also offers a host of visual upgrades and enhancements over the standard Civic, presenting in either Coupe or Sedan form. Prices start at $24,300 for both versions of the 2019 Civic Si.*
Civic Type R
And then there's the legendary Type R. Honda engineers threw the kitchen sink at the 2019 Type R, and the end result is a no-holds-barred performance machine that looks like nothing else on the road. Starting at $35,700,* the centerpiece of the Type R is its turbocharged and intercooled VTEC® engine, that pumps out 306 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Its lightweight chassis, aluminum hood, limited-slip differential, monster Brembo® brakes, and adaptive damper system all mean the Type R backs up its monster power with sublime handling and true performance-car DNA. Also, did we mention it looks absolutely insane?
Key Features
360-Degree Awareness
Honda engineers have strategically squeezed the latest in miniature camera technology into the Civic. The Multi-Angle Rearview Camera offers three different views—normal, top-down, and wide—for backing up safely and easily. Additional small cameras installed on the side-view mirrors make lane switching easier and safer, too. With Honda LaneWatch™, just flip on the turn signal and the dashboard display will show live video from the side-view mirror cameras, so you can see what’s in the lane beside you before you attempt to merge.
Truly Wireless Driving
You can easily enjoy content on your smartphone or tablet using the standard Bluetooth® or USB connection, or you can sync your device to stream more than 30 million songs available on Pandora®, Spotify®, Apple Music®, or any other streaming service. If talk radio is more your style, you can stream thousands of podcasts covering a variety of subjects from the latest political discourse to hot celebrity gossip. Plus, you can enjoy a completely tangle-free life by charging your compatible smartphone with the available wireless charging station.
Cutting-Edge Safety
In addition to an image you can see, the 2019 Civic offers technology you can’t see constantly working hard to keep you and your passengers safe. The innovative Collision Mitigation Braking System™, for example, autonomously helps brake the vehicle when it senses a collision ahead, while the Road Departure Mitigation System uses cameras to identify road markers and take action to keep you from leaving the road. The Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow function can intuitively maintain following distance between vehicles ahead, and the Lane Keeping Assist System can detect if your Civic begins to stray from the center of a detected lane and take action to get you back on track.
Alternative Options
If you're looking for even more room for your passengers and cargo, look no further than the 2019 Honda Odyssey, with three rows of seating for the entire family, plus everything they want to bring with them.
